Lilly Singelengele

Lilly Singelengele is a Zambian runway model. Based in the capital, she has walked the runway in Beaucoup International and local shows including Miss Malaika Fashion Week 2012 in Uganda.

She is the current brand ambassador of Cape Diablo; a lifestyle brand and retailer offering a variety of quality handmade accessories and products with trendy designs.

The predominant fascination about Lilly however is her life away from the stage. She is a farmer; she spends most of her time nurturing livestock, growing crops and helping other farmers plan better for their produce as well as care for their soil.

Lily was also recently appointed to the Africa Leadership Women Network as a pioneer by the UN. She is also a member of the Global Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network (CSAYN)

Lily has been taking selfies in the field and posting on social media platforms for her huge following to influence the youth to embrace agriculture as a career and wealth creation opportunity. “I want to be attractive and show them that one can go to the farm with or without make-ups and many of them are following suit and taking up farming activities.” She is the founder of Green Agriculture Youth Organisation (GAYO) established in 2017 to combat poverty and unemployment in Zambia by promoting entrepreneurship among women and young people.

Lily is very passionate about climate-smart agriculture and is currently advocating for climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience. She determined to create voices for local people especially the youth, women and marginalized communities to be at the forefront of addressing challenges related to climate change and food security.

Her efforts to promote climate-smart agriculture and initiatives aimed at addressing global warming has earned her a slot in the Mandela Washington Fellowship programme. She is set to travel to the United States of America for the progamme.
