Mercy Lumbani KAUNDA

Mercy is a Senior University Administrative Staff at Mzuzu University in Malawi. She is responsible for admissions and Students Affairs. Before being appointed as Senior University Administrative Staff, she was Personal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor of Mzuzu University.

She has worked in higher education administration for 22 Years since 2000 to date. Mercy holds an International Master’s degree in Education, she has attended and participated at both local and international workshops in Management and Leadership. She has participated in International Renaissance Centre (IRC) workshops and presented papers at Lilongwe Hotel – Malawi, Dar-as-Salaam, Arusha in Tanzania and Hotel Africana in Uganda. She is a recipient of the Personal Assistant of the Year Award (PAYA) from IRC.

She has worked in the Students Affairs Office as Assistant Registrar and Senior Assistant Registrar, respectively and her passion is to be a University Registrar one day and a Member of Parliament in future to serve and represent her home Village community and Malawi at large.

She is also a Board Chairperson for Mbawemi Women Non-Governmental Organisation in Mzuzu, Malawi, and Founder of Tikoliyani local NGO in Nkhata Bay District.

She is a Catholic by faith and serves in the church as a community leader, Choir member at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Mzuzu and Legio member. Her mentor and inspirer is Madam Winnie Kamuya, CEO IRC Nairobi, Kenya.
