Nompumelelo Lukhele

Ms. Nompumelelo Lukhele is a legal practitioner in the public sector whose work speaks for the voiceless in sexual offences, human trafficking and smuggled migrants, ensuring the protection of children’s interests and victim protection.

She joined the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) in 1999, rose through the ranks and led the establishment of the Sexual Offences Unit at the DPP’s Chambers, a unit she led until 2010 as Principal Crown Counsel.

She was appointed the Head of Secretariat of The Prevention of People Trafficking and People Smuggling Secretariat under the Prime Minister’s Office in October 2010 when the office was established.
